Disney's Oz The Great and Powerful

*contest

From the producer of "Alice in Wonderland", Disney presents "Oz the Great and Powerful" directed by Sam Raimi.
My little son Luis and I are big fans of Disney movies.
Watching Disney movies is like a short escape from reality and walked into world of fantasy.

Movie Synopsis

When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful wizard but into a better man as well. “Oz The Great and Powerful” is produced by Joe Roth, with a screenplay by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire (credit not final). Grant Curtis, Palak Patel, Philip Steuer and Josh Donen are serving as executive producers.

Brave little China Girl made of porcelain and Finley the monkey with wings!

Cast:

James Franco as Oz

Michelle Williams as Glinda

Rachel Weisz as Evanora & Mila Kunis as Theodora

Trailer
Had viewed the trailer in the cinema, Luis and I were totally excited about it.

Already gave my promise to him that we'll watch this movie, irregardless of winning the tickets from Nuffnang or not.

Organix Cherry Blossom Skincare

*sponsored

Had won myself this set of Organix products from Cosmopolitan Singapore before Chinese New Year ^.^
Look closely, these are skincare not hair products!

Delicate Cleansing Milk (200ml)
Product description: A delicate floral blend of age defying cherry blossom extracts and nourishing lotus flower milk combined with soothing poppy extracts to gently remove make-up and impurities, while protecting yur skin's natural moisture balance.

Did make-up on my hand instead of face lolxx....
Being a nail artist, I am actually quite good at art but I screwed up this time >.<
I poured at a small amount to cleansing milk and massaged in circular motion on the water proof eye-liner and lip liner.

The lip liner came off instantly with one swap of cotton while the water-proof eye liner needed some rubbing before they came off completely.  This is probably suitable for ladies with light or no make-up since the cleansing power is not that strong.  No sticky feel, no irritation, very gentle on skin without dryness. The fragrance was lovely.

Refreshing Flora Toner (200ml)
Product description: An irresistible infusion of age defying cherry blossom extracts and exotic passion flower tighten pores, leaving skin refreshed, clean and toned, while soothing rose water and pot marigold helps defend skin's natural moisture.
It pours out like scented water and is quickly absorbed by the skin with a few pats.
It's quite a soothing and pleasant product I would say.

Rejuvenating Serum (30ml)
Product description: An exclusive blend of Swiss apple stem cells revives elasticity and firmness combined with a new natural retinol and peptide technology to help counteract signs of aging all while cherry blossom extracts and delicate orchid milk nourishes and locks in moisture for optimal smoothness.
Transparent gel like, one pump is good enough to cover face and neck area.  Slight sticky feel which fades off after a couple of minutes.  Although it's called a serum, it performs more like a moisturiser.  I find it more suitable for late 20s or early 30s.  It's too mild and gentle for my 42 years old skin.

Anti-Aging Lotion SPF15 (50ml)
Product description: An alluring blend of cherry blossom extracts with antioxidant rich orchid nectar helps to visibly minimize wrinkles and shields your skin from free radicals, while ceramides promote skin's optimal moisture.
Like most sunblocks, it's white in color with slight sticky-ness.  As it's only SPF15, I use it only when I making a short trip to the coffee shop or travelling on the road in late afternoons when the sun is not so strong.

Reunion Dinner at PuTien Tampines (莆田)

Pu Tien wasn't my first choice, wanted to book Imperial Treasure at Paragon for their Peking Duck but I was too late, they were fully booked.  I so sad sia :((  craving for Peking Duck so badly now.  Anyway it beats preparing steamboat or cooking at home, cos' I was exhausted after long hours of work non-stop for 15 days before Chinese New Year's Eve.

Self-take while waiting for the restaurant to let in 8pm batch of customers.
My hair was still black then.  If you follow on my Instagram, you know it's now gold ;P

The bill came up to $672

Mandarin orange carrier as gift which came useful and handy for me.

Salmon not too well sliced...

Raw fish symblolise 年年有余 Abundance through the year;
Pomelo = 大吉大利 Auspicious and good luck;

Dash of pepper = 招财进宝 Attract wealth and treasures
Pour of oil = 财源广进, 一本万利  Gash of wealth and ten thousand times of profit

Tossing of carrots = 鸿运当头 Good luck approaching;
Further tossing of green radish = 青春常驻 Forever young;
Crazy tossing of white radish = 风生水起, 步步高升For prosperity in business and promotion in career
Mix it all up with deep fried little square crackers = 满地黄金 Floor full of gold!!

Chilli was really yummy....

Pen Cai 盆菜 with lots of expensive ingredients.
I felt that the taste was a bit bland, maybe they didn't simmer long enough...

Was very happy with the little abalones though, we finished the whole pot of it eventually, heehee....

I LOVE soon hock fish!!
I licked every bone and sucked the head clean.

Stir fried asparagus, lack of garnish, looked unappealing but it's very tasty!

My kids' favourite - Sweet sour pork with lychee
Very crispy, drools at my own pic :P~~

Rice noodles was served individually and I didn't take pic of it, but was a thumbs up.
The noodles were soft and smooth with richness of soup stock.

Dessert was this special yam paste with mixed fruits.
Nice nice, which ended the dinner sweetly ^.^

Overall PuTien's dishes were mildly flavoured with very very little oil, in fact I didn't see any trace of oil.
Was quite happy with the dinner except that the damage hurts a little.
What to do since I didn't want to toil in the kitchen?

Thai movie - Countdown

*sponsored movie preview

Thank you OMY.sg for the invitation to Thai movie Countdown preview at GV Plaza.

Synopsis -

Three thai youngsters, Jack, his girlfriend Bee and Pam shared an apartment in New York City.  Leading a rowdy life instead of studying, which finally leads to trouble on New Year's Eve.  Jack called up a drug dealer called Jesus who came with marijuana joints.  The Countdown Party turned into life threatening night-mare when Jesus refused to leave.

Review -

I don't find Countdown scary at all.  Not once did I hide myself under my hubby's armpit onto my hubby's chest.  I was cool, and cold ;P   Nobody in the cinema screamed, meaning that I wasn't that brave, just that the movie was too mild to be classified under horror film.  Only 2 Vs to describe Countdown -

Violent and Vulgur

The movie was in Thai with some spoken English.  The actors were total strangers as I hardly watch Thai movies.  Which was a good thing, cos' we could concentrate on the movie without being distracted.  95% of the action took place in the apartment revolving only 6 actors (including Pam's boyfriend who appeared less than 3mins on screen) and a dog.

The drug dealer Jesus spoke English initially, when his pervert violence revealed, he spoke fluent thai!!  I was totally terrified by the nail gun he fidgeted with.  A nail gun is a hand held machine which a nail can be pinned onto a wall or any surface with a trigger instead of using a hammer.  I was so relieved that my hubby told me this machine is not sold in Singapore >.<

The 3 youngsters were remorseful for what they did and the movie ended with positive perspective.

Morale of the movie -
Say No To Drugs
and
Do Not Act Against Conscience

Nuffnang's 6th Birthday Bash at Ballymoons!

My friends and family didn't really like the idea of me being a blogger.  To them blogging is for youngsters who has got nothing better to do than to seek attention in virtual world.  Nobody believes me when I told them Nuffnang is paying me for blogging.  After much explaination, they are finally more receptive.

Nuffnang is Asia-Pacific's first and leading blog advertising community in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, China, Hong Kong, and Thailand. Bloggers generate income through blog ads placed by various brands in our blogs.

It's really amazing that Nuffnang had created a new job in the market - Blogging.   There are already a number full-time bloggers in Singapore.  Social media/advertising is longer child's play like it used to be 10 years ago.  Blogsphere plays a big influence in the market with lots of opportunities and Nuffnang is the pioneer.

My relationship with Nuffnang is pretty lukewarm at the moment, cos' I joined the community about half a year ago only.  I am not a greedy person, but blogging without Nuffnang is like playing majong without chips, where got kick right?   So I am looking forward to receive more cheques and grow my blog together with Nuffnang for the future!

Besides additional income, bloggers in Nuffnang gets to participate in events and contests.
Below pic was taken during a Swarovski workshop organised by Nuffnang.
It was very well organised and was a wonderful experience.

Here's a pic taken with star blogger Xiaxue.
She used be on the screen of my computer, but suddenly she was in human form right beside me ^.^

I love Nuffnang, cos' they make my blog and effort worth it.

Nuffnang is turning 6 this year!

Nuffnang's 6th Birthday will be bashing at Ballymoons!

Probably be wearing this, in line with their dress code in sixties if I gets to go.

I want to be part of Nuffnang's 6 Birthday Bast at Ballymoons!

NS45 Bonus for our men!

*contest

All our Singapore boys are trained and turned into real tough men through 2 years National Service.
Our NS men was behind, protecting our country and made us proud.

I had been trying to search for my hubby's absolutely sexy topless NS pic where he show-off his abs.
Couldn't find, so sad, so have to make do with this pic of his uniform.
As you can see the camouflage print is different from now.

Hey, how about taking this opportunity to share with you readers one of my hubby's NS story!
Time transport back to 1985.............

There was this Section IC (in-charge), who liked to boss around in his platoon, thus nick named Ya Ya King.  Bloody cocky and super suck up, everybody had no choice but to tahan him.  One day, chance of "revenge" came........

Ya Ya King was not feeling well and he went to bed at 9pm plus.  He was totally knocked out.  5 of them, including my hubby decided to play a prank on him - they carried him together with his bed into the bathroom.  The entrance to the bathroom was just nice for the bed to pass through, Ya Ya King nearly rowed off the bed during the "transportation" but he did not wake up lolxxx.......

As soon as Ya Ya King (and his bed) was placed in the middle of the bathroom, a Corporal came in  -

Corporal: "Hey, what are you guys doing  and what's the bed doing here?!"

Hubby and buddies: "Sssshhhhhhhh........  Corporal, we just want to make fun of Ya Ya King lah, ssshhhh......"

Corporal: "I need to shower leh!"

Hubby and buddies: "Corporal you carry on with your shower but don't switch on the lights can?"

Corporal:  "Ok lah, ok lah, ........ you all hor...."

Hubby and buddies: "Thank you Corporal!  Good night Corporal!"

Corporal went on with his romantic shower cum singing session with lights off.  Corporal wasn't singing lullaby, but Ya Ya King was still sleeping like a baby, lolxxx........ he was incredibly sound asleep, even if the sky collapse he also won't wake up, waahaahaahaaa........

At around 3am, Ya Ya King carried his bed back into bunk, cursing and swearing with ultimate hokkien vulguarities in "full force":  "K******, who put 你爸 in the bathroom?!!!  #@%&*  got guts to do no guts to own up is it?  Bloody $#@%, let me know who's behind this, I am going to bash him upside down...... $#@&^%.........."

Hubby and buddies nearly died of internal stomach injuries while controlling their laughter under their blankets.

The next morning Ya Ya King continued to question who carried him (and his bed) to the bathroom.  Nobody owned up of course.

It was harmless prank, super hilarous "revenge", very unforgettable incident to my hubby ^.^
