We spend the entire morning in Trapang Svay Primary School, then back to the hotel again.
Clothes wet and smelly by this time, got changed and stepped out to Pub Street, back again to this Italian cafe for lunch:
TRATTORIA
Alley West, Pub Street, Siem Reap Cambodia
Tel: 855 12 315911
I am very in love with the solid wood and cast iron tables and chairs. The ambience was charming with terracotta floor tiles.
Vodka Mint & Lime
I took many sips cos it was really cooling and refreshing, instant relieve from the heat. The alcohol worked up only when I stepped out of the restaurant. Red face on the 9th cloud, then blur my way through for a while lolxx..
Red Snapper Fillet with Salad and Safran Rice US$9.50
This was average but portion was good.
Spicy Meat Pizza US$9.50
Their pizza was fired in traditional wood oven. The uneven dough was obviously home made, not perfect looking but super delicious! Must order their pizza if visit!
Carpaccio
My first experience with this Italian appetizer with very thinly sliced raw beef. It's acceptable with lime, but only took 2 slices in case my tummy went weak.
Creme Brulee
Very yummy dessert and I realized that it's triple the price in Singapore. I missed out some of the prices but I can say it's affordable and reasonable for us.
After lunch we walked back slowly to our hotel. See see look look along the way....
Tin Tin, not authentic according to my sis who's a collector.
Some charcoal stoves cooking along an alley.
There were plenty of such stalls selling local spices outside the wet market.
Rice...
I brought my sis and friend inside the wet market. Some stalls were still open.
This was like Singapore in 1970s.
Black black sausages, meat unable to identify 😝
Stall selling desserts, I think.
HUGE, palm size limes.
HUGE clams!
We passed by this "hair salon". We saw a young girl braiding another girls hair. They understand very little English but we managed to find out it's US$2.
So my sis had her hair braided in less than 3 mins. After this pic was taken we requested her to braid further down, and it looked much better.
My local friend made a last minute arrangement, bringing my another kid sis and me to a real hair salon which she frequents.
It's pampering to get my hair washed.
Braided up my frizzy hair too!
老天爷 was making fun of me by raining when we were visiting the village. I came up with a genius idea of wrapping my head with Giant Supermart's plastic bag 😂
The village doesn't have proper bathrooms, saw 2 women bathing with a sarong. What happen if the sarong let loose??? lolxx...
We waited for the rain to stop before we could start distributing some food, pre-love clothings, tooth paste, soap etc..
The younger team members had fun with the children. Here's one of our member piggy back a girl around lolxx..
Unloading the bags from our vans...
We managed to get a few tables to lay out the various items.
We told the villagers to let the elder folks queue first and they did though everybody was already very anxious.
Though a photo tells a thousand words, a video shows scenario.
It's not easy when the villagers gotten too excited. Still not too out of control, everybody in the team did a great job!
In time to come, the villagers will be moving into these concrete houses with toilets build by the government. Hopefully the standard of living will be improved.
Leaving the village, sharing the same path with the buffaloes.
We weren't hungry yet as we had late lunch. So we went to the local night market.
Tents with mat = Eating venue. There's a "giant soft drink can" stall selling hot dogs and soft drinks; and the other pic was some kiddy ride.
Many such BBQ food stalls were around.
BBQ "spare parts" and hums with shells looking too white...
BBQ frog legs and fishes.
Snails/Escargot???
Anyway, we bought some to try, it's tough and chewy like chicken gizzard.
Fruit stalls and they had really big jack fruits.
Kuey kuey stall which we bought pumpkin custard, cheap and yummy.
Visited the same place last year, more pics of the night market click HERE.
Just about 10mins ride, we were at:
Meng BBQ Restaurant
Wat Bo Village
Sala Kamrek Commune
Siem Reap
Cambodia
Buffet mookata dinner was USD6.00.
We would put lots and lots of veg making the pot looked like a garden. So whenever we wanted veg, we would say we want "garden" lolxx... We loved making a massive and crowded "garden", then watched it slowly softened into the soup.
Not my first visit, more pics from last year click HERE.
This was my 5th day in Siem Reap. I have one more, last day on Cambodia, then I'll start with my Macao/HongKong travel. Can't wait to share man, it's full of hiccups with my injured foot during the trip, aiyooooo...
I am so snail slow in posting that I kena "scolded" by a friend lolxx... I can almost imagine many of you shaking heads in despair 😅😅
