Japan Day 5 - Bikan Historical Area + Denim Street + Mitsui Outlet in Okayama

 22/03/2023
Bikan Historical Area, Bikan Denim Street + Okayama Mitsui Outlet

Beautiful weather not to be taken from granted.  Back here in Singapore, stepping out risk heat stroke any moment.
I know it's silly but only if the equator can shift itself a bit...

Pic outside our apartment, then walked to Okayama Station.

NHK Broadcasting Building opposite Okayama Station.

Happy to see Domo in Japan.

Okayama Station.

It was our 5th day in Japan, still thrilled whenever in station.

Looked stupid or not, haahaahaa...

Alight at Kurashiki Station and followed whatever sign boards we saw.

First impression of Okayama.

Walked through a quiet shopping street to Bikan.

Chanced upon a vintage toy shop.

Reached liao.

Started to look for lunch, I always find it exciting to walk into small lanes, so this was found.
Small ramen restaurant.

It could only house about 20 seats.  Normal seats were taken, so we had to take the tatami table.  Those ang mo will love it to death, it's just difficult for me to get down and get up.

Chinese (not fully) style ramen.
It was a lovely meal, but didn't leave an impression, I couldn't remember how it tasted.

Throughout our 26 days in Japan, I think Okayama is my favourite city.  It's lively and at the same time there were quiet moments to enjoy.

Historical buildings were undisturbed, visitors could enjoy strolling without fighting with crowd.

I really wouldn't mind a re-visit for a relaxing vacation.
Beautiful though it's not full bloomed.
Kurashiki River was one of the charm of Bikan Historical site.
The little stream was lined with cherry blossom trees but we were too early to view the pinks/whites.

Nevertheless it's very picturesque.

Building with creepers, it's a cafe but pity that we no stomach space for it.

Sampan sold out, it's very annoying, we saved money this way though.

Went in here and bought a magnetic bracelet, happy.
Shop front.

Luis sitting outside the shop while waiting for me.
The sun was warm, the breeze was cool, everything was exceptionally nice when the weather was good.  In Singapore everything was great but all killed by the weather.

We did not look for this stall intentionally, but it was great to bump onto it.

Wall opposite the stall was decorated with jeans was very cute and interesting.

Sorry, back to the stall, it's selling food and drinks in blue color!

I thought it was some unhealthy artificial blue coloring, it turned out to be blue berry flavour, very milky and yummy.

My cute boy...

The snack stall was attached with this fashion stall, spotted their hand painted cement brick.  Love how Japanese put in effort even at tiny details irregardless it can be seen or not.

Skirts were too long for me, nothing caught my eyes in particular, but it was enjoyable looking around.

I am so in love with Bikan Historical site, will my old man like it here?

Lots of cute shops here.

Not a fan of Miffy, but it's too cute.

It's bakery.
Bought a cream a cake and 2 bean paste Miffy buns for next day's breakfast.
Yay!

Next to Miffy was Snoopy.
I think I over photoshopped my face lolxx...

Beautiful Bikan.

Booked Shiba Inu Cafe about 1hr in advance.
Laugh die at the direct translation "小人" waaahaaaahaaaa....

If you are "anti animal cafes", just scroll over (or close window) and do not ask me any questions, let's respect each other and stay clear.
The rest of you peeps, the doggies were cute but we were not allowed to carry them.  So we basically just watched them walking around.  Nope, the fluffs didn't like to be touched or carried by strangers.

Last pic in Bikan, will miss this place dearly...

Back to Kurashiki Station.

Decided we should visit Mitsui Outlet since it was just at the other side of the station.
Here's Kurashiki Station Clock Tower and the outlet mall was behind it.

Lovely station when I looked behind.

This was located in the station and we were stuck inside for a while.

Ario Kurashiki Mall, which we had to pass by before getting to Mitsui Outlet Mall.

So we were distracted by some shops here and there.

We wanted to visit this cat cafe but by the time we finished shopping it's closed lolxx...

We saw some of the pretty cats through their glass panel though.

Big fat fluffy cats...

Board of super starts.

A leisure park that linked up Ario Kurashiki Mall and Mitsui Outlet Mall.
Everything was nice cos the weather was nice.  This will be a heat stroke danger zone in summer though lolxx...

Mitsui Outlet Mall, it was soooooooo quiet, I bet every shop was not making any money.

I managed to buy a blouse for S$7 and a few Sumiko plush for my niece for a few dollars each.

Wasn't cold at night.

Of all, we had Saizeriya for dinner, waahaahaahaaa.....
Menu was pretty much the same, so was the pricing.

Psychologically or for real, everything seemed to taste better, the kids were very happy, so was their mother.

After dinner head back to Okayama Station by this yellow train.  Why so cute the train....
I really like it in Okayama, lots to see, lots to shop and not over crowded like Osaka/Kyoto/Tokyo.

Bought a few things from Donki before going back to our apartment.

Didn't have washing machine in the apartment but there's a laundry shop a stone throw away.

Donki got plenty of bubble bath, bought a few for a good soak.
That ended the day.

The next day we packed up and leave for Osaka.  We boarded the wrong train and it's hilarious.  Please come back to read my story then, thank you!
