Vietnam Day 5 - Marble Mountain

10/07/2023

Old man finally sick of hotel's buffet breakfast.

We found gems in small lanes behind our hotel.

A very small stall besides a cafe.

Coffee Thanh Ha.

Fantastic ginger tea.  If only I could replicate this.

This was the BEST egg coffee I had in Da Nang.

Baun Cuon, soft and delicious.

Everything was VND77,000 only.

VND20,000 entrance fee to Marble Hill.

Took the elevator which helped only a small fraction, Marble Hill was larger than I thought.  But we only found out when we left.
Small elevator here.
Some upgrading going on, a bit messy.
Weak legs could only cover a few spots.

Scenery after stepping out of the elevator, 50 shades of blue.

That's all it took to be beautiful.
Singapore don't have blue sky, it's always too cloudy, our sea is brown.

Xa Loi Tower

My enemy - stairs.

Am Phu Cave, this was actually located next to the ticket booth.
Legs broke at Marble Hill lolxx...

There were stalls around, selling similar items.
I looked around for a marble mortar with the least flaw.  Later I got exhausted, bought one for about S$2 or S$3.

Sugar cane drink while waiting for driver.  We had spend about 2.5hrs here.

It was quite a far drive before reaching our lunch venue.

Lunch place right at the end of the small lane.
It felt very local with a few korean tourists.
This restaurant was around since 40 years ago.
They had rice paper with everything lolxx...
Beef noodles in peanut sauce.

This was called Banh Xeo, egg wrapped with beansprouts, minced meat, dried shrimps and some veg.  It's super delicious, not sure what's the magic inside.

That's all in their menu, not extensive but all these few were good enough to travel all the way for.

After lunch went back to Han Market area for buy a few more stuffs.  Legs were sore, had massage here, no recommended.

Bought coffee outside Han Market, lovely salt, but was too sweet for my liking.

Shopped a bit in Han Market.

Wet market area.

Food alley.

This time I did a bit of "homework" found a insta pretty cafe.
The crews were wearing cute vintage style uniform.
Interior with nostalgic vibe.

The bill for 2 drinks.
We had low coach seats, love the feel.  My happy old man wearing t-shirt from bought Han Market.
I preferred hubby's honey tea.

Da Nang had numerous Korean visitors.  They were everywhere, every corner, and they love to wear local safari clothes, we should had bought sia for the holiday feel.
I like the texture of the wall.
Outside Han Market, dirty tissue paper flying every where.
The pink church was closed for service, managed to take a full pic of it through the gate.

Da Nang had more cars and lesser bike motor compared to Ho Chi Ming.

Dinner at a local restaurant.
This is the address, would recommend here, it's quite decent and inexpensive.

Before.

After.

On the table.
Suckling pig came with salad and bread buns so we didn't order rice.

Stir fried kang kong, simple yet tasty.

Grilled oysters, I was so happy with these!
Shiok sia.
They topped with chives, peanuts, garlic, fried shallots.
Absolutely would come back for these.
Bill including 2 bottles of beer.

That's all for Day 5, next day we moved out to Hoi An!  My old man loved this place a lot, it's very touristy, but it's not a bad thing, cos it was a very pretty place with a lot to see.

Thanks for reading.
