Chongqing China 9D8N - Day 4

05/11/2025

9.40am train to Wulong station from Chongqing Station.
Made extra effort to arrive 2.5hrs earlier cos I read online that the station was very big.  For a person who gets lost in Dhoby Ghaut station, I was so nervous lolxx...

Not knowing if there were food vendors inside the station, I stopped over this 7-eleven outside to get some food, at least to have something for the 2hrs train ride.  He made a big fuss saying we were going to miss our train blah blah blah... I was already gan chiong enough and had to handle this over grown bad temper baby, haiz...
I bought a bowl of oden and "forced" him to get a drink.

This was the station, huge and bright with mirrored flooring.

The locals just scan their identity cards to get through the gantry like our MRT station.  Foreigners like us had to scan with passport.  Pretty smooth actually, but we were constantly cut queue by some very old and shabby looking locals (sorry).  This seemed to be a "normal" local practice out of respect for the elders, but I think it's not very civilized, just public nuisance.

传说中的绿皮火车。
We were so excited!

All good, we were on board!  Old man took the top, I had the bottom, the other side was occupied by 2 men.
This is not a good option for solo female travelers, imagine to be with other male strangers in a cabin.

Old man finally knew why I bought Oden.  So with some bread, this was our breakfast on board (beer belonged to other passenger).

This was the dinning cabin, but no hot food as the kitchen was not open.
Couldn't be seen in photo, the white table clothes had stains all over, rather do without and wipe the table clean was enough.

Made it Wulong station after 2.5hrs.

Booked Grab cab, it was about RMB75 for almost 30mins ride to our accommodation.
This was a small notice inside the cab.

Our special accommodation - Wulong Fairy Mountain Camping Ground.
重庆武隆仙女山露营基地逸宿太空舱酒店
Booked with Trip at $125 for 2 nights.

Not within a usual hotel building.

This was what they called a space cabin.
We originally booked a luxury camp, this was a upgrade given to us for free.

This cabin had 2 rooms with one super single and a queen bed, sleeps 3pax.

Old man played with the curtain remote until it got jammed and not able to open (gotten a staff to fix it).

The washroom was surprisingly big for such cabin.
The floor level was slightly tilted, not noticeable till we saw water from the shower flowing to one odd direction.  As the cabin had a big glass panels instead of walls, it was really cold at night even with the heater on.  It was very smart that they had heated bed, it was very very shiok to stay under covers.

It was consider non-peak season, the staff actually drove us to the Tourist Center without charge.  We spoke Cantonese and that smoothen things a lot.  We had lunch in one of the restaurant opposite.
It's way more expensive than in Chongqing city, but still affordable for normal Singaporean.

Everything was delicious.
Brinjal with minced pork RMB28 (about S$5), portion good enough for 3pax.

Braised pork with quail eggs RMB48.

Stir fried chives with eggs RMB20.  I love this so much, hope to replicate at home.

Bill came to be RMB108, about S$20.  We were full to the brim.

Walking to the Tourist Center couldn't decide to go Fairy Mountain (仙女山) or 3 Bridges Natural Park (天生三桥).  The building was in pyramid shape.

Unexpected sight of Gingko 銀杏 trees at the main road, it was sooooooo beautiful.
It was in my bucket list to see these yellow golden trees in Japan, so now there's no "urgency" already haahaa...
Not able to capture nice photos as we were in a rush.

Recommended by Tourist Center, we heading to 3 Bridges Natural Park (天生三桥) at 3pm.  I was a little worried that we might be too late.  But again we had nothing else to do.
It wasn't a 10mins ride as told, it was 30mins, but it was such a beautiful ride with Gingko trees along the road.

Cut and paste information:

The Wulong Three Natural Bridges (TianlongQinglongHeilong) are massive natural limestone arches.  It's part of Wulong Karst site, a UNESCO site.  Famous for stunning karst landscapes, filming location for "Transformer" and 黄金甲), and offering scenic hikes with elevators and shuttle buses for accessibility. These geological wonders, also called Tiankeng Three Bridges, connect mountains over a gorge, featuring unique features like cave-pierced cliffs, and are a major natural attraction
.

The hike was on flat grounds, relatively easy.
We didn't find the scenery particularly stunning, we had seen better.  Didn't take much photos.

What was interesting would be this elevator.  It had 2 lifts joined together, upper and lower.  And it was able to rotate, so that every passenger in the lift got their chance to see the view.
I was so amazed that I actually stood there to see how the elevator rotate while coming down.  Then we went for a FOC photo taking with this elevator as background.

After which was descending down the mountain with numerous staircase.
It was energy saving, but was just bad for my arthritis.

Was just half an hour ago coming down from the glass platform.
Didn't look like limestones to me.

I didn't come for the 3 Natural Bridges, I came for this historical building.

We were in the place where assaults came flying down from no where in movie "Curse Of Golden Flower".
To see the exact top view, had to climb, we just gave it a miss and stayed in the houses.

People came in and went off quickly, nothing much especially if you were not aware of the movie.
Not possible to take a pic without people.
Told old man to take a few random snaps, turned out amazing.

I couldn't remember what I was saying.
我忧郁的好美。

They called this bridge not a cave.
Too square to be natural.

If you tell me this was 奈何桥, I believe lolxx... a bit eerie looking.

I was walking and found a sword in the reflection.
As in, there was no need for imagination, it was just there very clearly.

See the baby ape?

Easy for most people, painful for me.

Lonely sampan looked like lonely me.
When we reached here it was about 5pm

It was turning dark, panicked a little though we still had a lot of other people with us.  We had to get out of the mountain ASAP.

To get back to the foot of the mountain, needed to pay (again) for the shuttle buggy, it was annoying as we presumed the upgrade tix we bought inclusive of everything.  It's impossible to walk down, so we (and the whole lot of others) were left with no option.
Couldn't remember how much it was, but just annoying.

Cool cool cold.

The hike didn't digest the sumptuous lunch.  We bought milk tea and instant claypot rice for dinner.

Next day was simply just Fairy Mountain in snail pace, an experience with fond memories.
