Bistro 1855

Date: 30.01 & 19.03.2015

Discovered one of the most affordable buffet in town!

Bistro 1855 is right in front when you exit from Promenade MRT.

Salad Bar Buffet during lunch time (11am - 3pm) is only S$12.90++!!  Top up S$5 for a main course if you feels greedy.

I was here twice and there were a few different items available.

The Salad Bar.

Close-up.

Missed out the soup pot at the left hand corner, there's bread and tortilla chips.

The salad buffet includes ice-cream too!
Those little bowls were filled with ice-cream toppings such as rainbow rice, crushed peanut etc..

Bring you to our table now..

Pumpkin soup, love it.

Clam chowder, sprinkled bacon bits from the salad bar.

Beet root gave me fond memories of Greece.  I ate them almost everyday during my visit.
Apparently beet root is rich in Vitamin C and iron.  However it's not a common veg here.  We can't find beet root in hawker centres or food court, only at certain western cafes and restaurants.

King Luis's plate.
Can somebody tell me how to coax your kid to eat greens? -__-

I like baby spinach as a base.

The main courses which we had tried:

Hamburger Steak, yummy, we had this on both visits.

Teriyaki Chicken with rice.

Pork chop with mushroom sauce.

The above main courses came in good portion which was filling enough even without the salad.

Free flow ice-cream :P~~

Great food, affordable prices, conveniently located in Suntec City, yet no queue.
Probably nobody knows this wine bar offers healthy salad buffet in the afternoon.

So now, you know where to enjoy a decent lunch without having to fight with crowd!

Springleaf Prata Place

Date of visit: 04.01.2015

I couldn't remember where I read about this prata eatery, we decided to hunt it down since it's at the east.

Pacing up and down the main road, we got lost and called them up for directions >.<

Springleaf Prata Place is hidden within detached houses.
Parking space was extremely limited, we were lucky that somebody already had their fills and drove off, at the right time.

Simple and crowded, it's aircon like a busy food court.
The cashier was just at the entrance where we place our orders and pay.  The queue took about 20mins -____-|||
The lady in pretty pink dress at the left hand side of this pic was an ang mo.  I mean, I was quite surprised, ang mo knows how to eat Indian prata wor.

We were prepared as this note was plastered all over the walls every meter apart lolxx..
Since it was already a few months since we visited, I hope they have more man power now.

We had Teh Terik S$1.20 and Teh Terik Ice S$1.50.

Mee Goreng S$3.20
Messy plate of spicy fried noodles but really yummy with healthy ingredients including green veg, cabbage, tofu and ikan bilis.

Plain prata S$1.10 and Curry Mutton S$4.00
The prata was great!  That explains what's the crowd about!  Crispy yet soft, it tore apart with many thin layers within.  Curry mutton was rich in flavour with tender meat which we wished the portion could be slightly more.

Now, the purpose of the visit was for this...

Plaster Blaster S$5.00
A cute name was given to this plain prata topped with 2 slices of ham and a egg ben.  It looked fantastic on the camera.

Needless to say, the prata itself was good, the ham was cold right from the fridge which was a major spoiler.
No doubt the combination is very innovative and other people were raving about it like crazy, personally, I couldn't accept it too well.  I dipped my prata into the runny egg yolk, it's just weird.  Both tasted good on it's own but not so when combine together.

I consider myself quite an "adventurous" person where food is concern, but for this time I still prefer traditional prata.

Nevertheless, it was great fun driving down unfamiliar roads looking for new food.  It's thrilling and sometimes full of surprises.  We enjoyed the process of food hunt.  We continued with serious "discussion" or "debate" over the dining experience on our way home.  Food make our love grow, heehee..... and at the same time expanding our waistlines >.<

On our way home, the sky was beautiful, perhaps taken from granted by many people.
A small kite accompanied by a bigger one was surfing in the wind.  There was another giant one, probably 2 or 3 metres in length making it's way up.  Burped, and I still could smell curry mutton ^.^

SkinLab the Medical Spa

*sponsored

Got out of the taxi, stood in front of Wheelock Place, not sure which direction to set my foot ahead, panic as I was absurdly late for the appointment >.<

Was grasping for breath when I arrived at SkinLab the Medical Spa.
The spotless white reception sets a image of SkinLab, being a facial spa with medical aspects.

The kind reception lady offered me hot beverage while I filled up a simple form with my personal particulars including medical history, my facial and body concerns.

After consultation, I was recommended to try SkinLab's Salicylic Acid Peel Facial.

Salicylic Acid Peel Facial (approx. 90 mins S$268)
targets the following skin problems -
·         oily skin
·         acne
·         blackheads
·         whiteheads
·         fine lines
·         premature aging
·         uneven skin tone
* non invasive and no down time

The facial room was spacious and cozy.

Plush firm bed was so perfect to slumber onto, just what's the brand of the mattress!

All facial therapists in SkinLab have a minimum of five years experience both locally and abroad.  I knew was in good hands.

Salicylic acid is one of the most effective ingredients to combat the cause of facial oil, acne and blemishes, as well as providing an excellent rejuvenation addition and alternative to Glycolic.

Salicylic acid is odourless, perhaps was slight itch but it felt ticklish when applied on my face.  Only 10% of acid was used since this was my first time.  Dosage may increase depending on the skin condition on subsequent sessions.

My therapist was skillful yet gentle, giving me pampering facial and shoulder massage which I hope it could go on forever!

The last step of the facial was a mask, followed by toner, ampoule and moisturizer.

Before I left, I topped up my stock of Crystal Tomato (anti-aging and whitening oral supplement) from SkinLab.

I looked at the mirror only when I reached home.  And wow, my face was glowing without grease.  More than 80% of those black heads were gone.  I touched my face, to my surprise, it felt SOOOOOOOOO SMOOTH like a hard boiled egg!

I was only told that the skin will feel smoother, but they didn't tell me it will be this SMOOTH as if I had a total skin lift!

Amazing.

As, I really didn't expect such prominent and visible result with merely one session of Salicylic Acid Peel Facial, I did not take any before and after pics T_____T

So now I understand why Salicylic Acid Peel Facial was introduced as SUPERIOR EXFOLIATE.  It exfoliates not only the skin surface but within the pores too.

Salicylic Acid also gets rid of surplus sebum, bacteria and inflammation from deep inside the pores of the skin, acne elimination indeed, heeheehee...

I am going back soon for another session!

Celebration on yacht

Date: 25.12.2014

I didn't really mentioned about last year's Christmas celebration in my social media.

It's freaking awesome.

We rented a yacht, yeah.

Booking was made about 2 months in advance with Marine Bookings.

As I was busy to the brim during that period of time, ordering BBQ food from a caterer saved a lot of hassle.  Chose EZ BBQ as it's not too far from my place at Geylang and they provides vegetarian skewers for my kid sis who was then on temporary vegan diet.

My order was about $160, didn't reach their minimum order of $300 for free delivery.
So, 能省就省 , we picked up from them, wasn't too difficult.
Ticked the items against my order before packing them into plastic bags, paid cash.  We were all done within 15mins on Christmas noon before heading to our meeting place at Sentosa Cove.

Here's Sentosa Cove with one stretch of private yachts and speedboats.

There's a Cold Storage and 7-eleven here, very convenient for last min top ups.
Tip:  Ice cubes are cheaper in Cold Storage than in 7-eleven, not by cents hor, by dollar.

2 yacht crews came punctually to lead us to our yacht, the excitement began as we were lead through the restricted entrance.

Introducing Yacht Annette, our playground for the next 4 hours!  MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!  My gawd!!
This yacht can accommodate up to 18 pax, there were 14 of us and we had plenty of space to jump and laze about.

Mai tu liao, let's sail out!

Meanwhile, let me show you the facilities and interior of Annette:

"Living Room" with glass panels which peeps through outside.

It has a double kitchen sink, stove, oven, rice cooker, electric kettle and a bar fridge.  The small counter tops are good enough for some cutting and preparation of food.

Bar fridge.

They called it 2 bedrooms although it's more like giant pigeon holes fully occupied by the bed, heehee...

This "room" got sliding wardrobe at the side.

This is another, climb up the beds if you need a doze, heehee....

There are 2 toilets and they are as compact as those on planes, only slight bigger to accommodate the shower area.

Ruffle hem blue top was sponsored by Zalora.
Wearing specs due to some eye infection >.<

Enjoying the sea breeze...

MBS and Singapore Flyer were so far and so small!

My Darren like a boss.

My niece Janelle in her own thoughts....

King Luis trying to keep calm and not to puke.

We anchored near Lazarus island.

Lazarus island is Singapore's most well kept secret.  The beach is amazing!

From a distant, we saw clean white sand and clear blue sea waters, beautiful like a postcard.
We didn't take any pics of the beach as we didn't want to risk our hand phones getting drowned.  Nobody's able to get to the beach without getting wet.

Sis and little Karsten canoe over to the beach while the other swam over.

While the rest were having fun in waters, I found my fun with fire - BBQ!

Teriyaki chicken, sambal sotong and prawns were all neatly and professionally packed in foils by EZ BBQ.

We had black pepper lamb chops and otah.....

We grilled pineapples....

We had satay...

Talking of which, the satay came in a spill-proof package, delicious and hassle free!

And, we had a lot more!!

We even had champagne!  Weeeeeeeeeee....

Sunset was beautiful, Darren was shiok max...

Night scene.  This was the best a handphone could capture, the real dazzles were captured by our eyes.

The sky gotten dark came really fast, we managed to see a bit of fire work from Sentosa.  After which, we sailed back to Sentosa Cove.

Sorry, I can't stand my high pitch either >.<

If budget allows, renting a yacht out to the sea for birthday celebrations, weddings, events etc., is far more interesting and exciting than any location on land.  We had such a smashing and memorable Christmas!

Really have to thank my kid sis that everybody gets to enjoy a private yacht.
