Going white withTopshop at Zalora

The haze is bad but life still goes on with online shopping at Zalora!

White is Beautiful
White is Elegant
White is Clean
White is Sleek
White is Pure

Let's look at some deals in white at Topshop Singapore:

Lace Collar Top S$36.00
Dainty lace peter pan collars are so feminine with a little bit of cuteness ^.^  Perfect to show off your slim arms, but if yours aren't like mine, throw over a cardi, you can still show off the pretty lacy peter pan collars, heehee...

Velvet Trim Tee S$56.90
Solid colored surface with semi sheer velvet trimmings on the chest and sleeves, peek-a-boo!  I thought this is really chic with denim shorts or jeans for a classic yet interesting look.

Retro Wide Leg Trousers S$69.90
It takes a REAL lady to wear white trousers.  No colorful panties, chairs must be inspected before you sit on, make sure your monthly "good friend" doesn't arrive suddenly etc.. lolxx...  But once your wear it right, the stage is yours!

Halter Neck Midi Dress S$69.90
I bet you had heard this over a million times:
"Less is More."  And this is what it means.
It doesn't matter you have long or short hair, it doesn't matter if you have snow fair complexion or sun-kissed skin.  A dress that kills, effortlessly.

Fringe Crinkle Blouse S$76.90
When your boyfriend refuse to lend you his white shirt, buy this!  (with his money of course, heeheehee...)   Also, wear a lacy nude color bra for subtle sexy look.  DON'T wear a black bra beneath, it's one of the worst disaster a decent woman can ever make, unless you are not.....

Shaggy Faux Fur Gilet S$149.00
Let's pretend there's autumn or winter here....

Leather Chain Crossbody Bag S$76.90
Genuine soft leather with detachable chain.  A white bag is more impressive than a black one.

Check in your wardrobe, are there any whites?  If not it's time to stock in some!

Happy Shopping!

Lace top has got transparent sequins which blings with every movement.  Nice right?  Sexy doesn't mean revealing, I can't decide which color I like better, feel like grabbing one and keep it till Christmas lolxx...

ZALIA Metallic Pleated Maxi Dress S$59.90
This is classy, love the puffy long sleeves, so feminine .

Why you have nothing to wear when your wardrobe is bursting.

"I have nothing to wear," starring at the wardrobe bursting with clothes.

I believe this is what many ladies had encounter.

It will be understandable if the wardrobe consist of 3 dresses, 2 pants and 1 blouse.  But this is not the case since most Singaporeans loves shopping to death.

Ever wonder why nothing to wear when the wardrobe is bursting with clothes, even with brand new ones with price tags?

I am not a fashion expert or professional but this is what I find out by observing friends of all ages around me.....

Singapore Women's Deadly Fashion Habits -

* Only BLACK

I had seen countless office ladies who owns more than 10 pairs of BLACK COURT SHOES.  Each black court shoes have some difference such as one is plain; another pair has bows, one is suede, another pair is patent, one is 1 inch high and the other pair is 1.5 inches..... etc etc....  One can wear different pairs of shoes everyday for one whole good week but NOBODY notice, black shoes, will still be black shoes, they look the same especially to men, lolxx...

This "Black Court Shoes Theory" applies to "Safe Black Dresses Syndrome".

They have a full black crow wardrobe and they changes their outfit daily (of course).  But look as if they are wearing the same outfit at every day.  They look the same at wedding dinners and funerals, even at the beach; they looked all the same wearing the same thing in every photo :X

Some women are color shy to the extend where they are comfortable only when wearing black,  Most of them told me black has a slimming effect.  No doubt it's true but sometimes black strips away the natural softness and gentleness in women.

Lawyers wear black to portraits a stern and solemn image.
Can you imagine if they wear baby pink!  Waaahaahaaa.....

Most serving crews in restaurants/departmental stores are restricted to wear black cos' (partially) it's weird to look more elaborately dressed than customers.  So don't get pissed off when shoppers says to you "Hello, excuse me, can you please get this for me?"

Black wearers restrict themselves due to sense of security, lack of confident or some other reasons I don't know.   Though they may feel bored at times, it's difficult to break the black spell.  As a result, stares at ba ba black wardrobe but nothing to wear......

SOLUTION:

Black shoes wearers:
Try to buy a brown or grey pair of shoes.  You will be surprised how many people notice them!  Your money will be more well spend than buying another pair of black shoes where nobody even notice.

Black clothes wearers:
It's impossible to make sudden changes like wearing a bright pink or neon orange kind of color.

First play with details, Pocket Full of Posies Dress from INNER CIRCLE.
Still black, but the white checked trimmings are cute and feminine.

Next, try dark colors.  I am wearing Zalora's Basic Knit Cape Top Deep Green.
Not black, but the slimming effect is just as good right?  Try out other colors such as dark blue or dark grey which is easier to "adapt".

Keep black if you insist, but keep it as part of the outfit, Vera Sleeveless Short Dress from I-TYLIZT
Sapphire blue dress with black lace.

Give yourself a chance, it's not as if people will condemn you for wearing other colors.
Inject some colors into your wardrobe, you will be surprise how color clothings can lift up your mood.  You deserve more than black, trust me.

* Only SHORTS or PANTS/JEANS

Most students falls into this category while some are working adults in non-office environment.  One claims it's the most comfortable kind of outfit they can wear.  They can't study or work properly wearing dresses or skirts.

One can own 30 pairs of shorts or jeans, but when a invitation calls for some dinner or a clubbing night out, stares at one heap of overly causal clothes but nothing to wear......

SOLUTION:

Shorts and jeans ARE NOT the only comfortable clothes in the world.  Looking ragged may be your style, but when an occasion calls for, dressing appropriately is courtesy and respect to the person who invited you.  But there's no need to drive yourself nuts in clothes that restricts your movements.

Palazzo Trousers from MANGO

Flare pants that looks like a long skirt from far.  This is decent enough for any important or formal event.
You can now cross your legs like a man but still looks like a lady, heehee....

Nowadays, shorts can be "disgust" as mini skirts.
Peplum Shorts from DIP DROPS

This looks great for causal gatherings or parties.  You are still wearing shorts, but more presentable, and definitely more sexy!

* Buys only office/working attire

Many ladies falls into this thread too.  They have no problem in what to wear for work, can even wear different outfits without repeating for 3 good months down the road.  Normal activities such as a zoo outing or a birthday chalet party can easily put them into deep trouble.  They don't have anything that falls under causal other than a few worn off t-shirts and shorts.  Stares at one whole wardrobe of pretty dresses and smart outfits but nothing to wear....

SOLUTION:

You can't be wearing a office dress to the zoo, neither can you wear your home clothes to a BBQ party.  Causal wear doesn't mean you have to be in shorts and t-shirts, you can be stylish and chic as what you normally are at work.  It's worth to invest a little on a few causal outfits which you can wear during weekends.  Weekends are so precious, wear something that makes you pretty and happy!

Genevieve Flora Romper Pink from LILYRAE.CO

Smocked Playsuit from Zalora.

Both are cool enough for outdoor activities and looks good on photos too!

The bottom line is, besides buying clothes that you wear daily, it's important to have a few pieces for different occasions and events.  They need not be expensive since you may not be wearing them as often.

All the above outfits recommended can be purchase online at Zalora.

They are having great discounts now, click in for VOUCHERS!

Pollen Singapore Restaurant

Date of visit: 16.11.2014

I was crazy busy since last year Nov.  Gatherings, festive celebrations and work all crushed together.  Only managed to get a breather these couple of days.

So... please forgive me for another absurd back dated post.

This is another fine dinning, costly experience (to me) which I can't just go as and when I like (unless I strike lottery).  So die die also must show off post!

The occasion was my kid sis's birthday.  Each of her birthday celebrations, I treat it as mine as well, seriously, so I was all dressed up (like a black devil lolxx...)

Pollen Singapore Restaurant is located in Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay, serving western cuisine.
Image from www.pollen.com.sg
Like Ocean Restaurant, booking was made a month before and we emailed them the dishes we chose from the menu a week in advance.

With that previous experience, I was expecting meticulous service and bite size portions of food on big big plates.

The buggy picked us up from the entrance of Gardens By The Bay.
The driver was very patient and helped with my father who's on wheelchair.

Buggy dropped us right at the entrance of Pollen.  We felt like VIPs lolxx..  The entrance wasn't as grand as I expected it to be though...

Contemporary fittings were neat but not impressive.

Fortunately, the lush of green which is part of Flower Dome gives a zest to the whole restaurant.

Now, please enjoy the creative food presentations...

Complimentary tibits canapes before the dinner.

Pink macarons shaped like acorns with cheese.  If I didn't remember wrongly, the pink color is from beetroot.
If the number of macarons can be as much as those decorative pebbles.....

Charcoal crackers with taramasalata (lemony fish roe sauce)

Buns with blue cheese.  The buns are soft yet springy, my favorite among the three.

Throughout the meal, we had free flow warm bread with garlic butter.

Temperature was cool like Genting Highlands, I was all prepared with a fur cape.  My sisters weren't.
The female service crew then came with a tray of shawls in different colors for my sisters.  The attentive service was very pampering indeed.

Starter - Carpaccio of Hokkaido scallops, guava, frozen apple and wasabi, dill yoghurt, seaweed oil.
S$38.00
Looked very much like a piece of abstract act on black paper.  Took me some time to find where were the scallops lolxx...  Once found, they tasted as if they just popped onto the table right from the sea, VERY FRESH!  And compliments with everything else on the plate, yums...

Starter - Seared foie gras, calamansi, white fungus, longan, chia seeds, poached quince
S$40
Foie Gras was heavenly; slightly charred on the surface, but very juicy within.  Sweetness and sinfulness exploded in the mouth at each bite, so much so that I couldn't bear to swallow.  I wanted the taste to linger longer, so tasty and too enjoyable.

Starter - Aerated foie gras, smoked passion fruit, yoghurt and mint
S$36.00
You can't see foie gras here, it all being "minced".  Texture became similiar to thai pork floss, but the fatty taste of foie gras was still distinctive.

Starter - Gorgonzola consomme, pears, port jelly, artichokes and truffle toast
S$28.00
Beautiful vegetarian starter, didn't get to try cos' it's for my sis who was having vegetarian diet during that period of time.  Portion was really small, so didn't want to steal from her.

By this time, my little nephew was restless already.  Had to bring him out of Pollen to Flower Dome to "release" his energy before he banged over this tray of alcohol besides our table lolxx...

Main - Sea bass, kohlrabi, edamame, crispy chicken skin, mushroom broth
S$64.00
Sea bass looked and taste like tofu, delectable.

Main - Loin of venison, beets, berries, pears, jumper salt
S$68.00
Melt in your mouth beef  chunks with fruits.

Main - Beef short ribs, salsify, charred onions, miso butterscotch
S$70.00
Another beef dish; I couldn't decide which was better, both were perfect!

Main - Mushroom spelt barley, Japanese pumpkin
S$30.00
Vegetarian main dish for my sis, it was also the only dish served which was filling enough.  Stole a few spoonfuls, it was creamy and yummy.

Dessert - Black Forest with cherry, pandan, chocolate, shimeji, roasted tomatoes
S$20.00

Dessert - Matcha with strawberry, sour plum, tahini
S$20.00
When this was served we thought it was a white cream cake with decorations.  Couldn't help to feel a little disappointed to realize it was a white stone with green 2 inch slice matcha cake >.<

Dessert - Pumpkin with Gingerbread, praline, banana, brown butter
S$20.00

Complimentary chocolates and gums!

The service crew introduced and explained all the dishes that were served on the table.  I was very impressed by their knowledge.  Overall, everything tasted as if they were out of the world, exquisite.  From the taste to food presentation, the high standard can't be mimicked by any other ordinary restaurants.

The only complaint would be we wished they could serve faster so that we could spend more time at the Flower Dome (admission is free for diners).

The above dishes that we tried may or may not be available by now as I suppose they will change their menu periodically.

Some photos taken 20mins before Flower Dome close at 9.30pm -___-

At 9.30pm, the buggy drove us back to the entrance of Gardens By The Bay.   The kind driver took a longer route and drove slowly so as to let us enjoy the beautiful scenery ^.^
