8 days in Sydney Day 4

04/07/2025

Gf went for breakfast at Plate Cafe while I snoozed till later morning.   Then as if running for life we checked out at 12pm.  I only started to download Uber app at the road side, my friend's Uber came to pick her to the airport, she was screaming out of the car window: "Take care!  Tie the app with Youtrip, if cannot just use another card ya!   Baabaabaa... baabaabaa..."  We didn't even take a photo together throughout the trip lolxx...
After serious of 手忙脚乱 downloaded Uber app, successfully gotten myself a cab.

Moving through West Connex, the road tunnel was very new, completed in Nov 2023. The Uber bro told me it was 33km long, Wikipedia recorded as 22km, so I wasn't sure.

Arrived at my new boutique hotel was located outside Sydney CBD area at Kings Cross.

No 9 SpringField (boutique hotel).

Not able to check in at 11am, I walked around the neighbourhood.  Visited a small local supermarket right opposite the hotel.

So much leafy green veg!

Satay chicken curry???
Surprised to see sashimi.

The place I was staying was a red light district in history (I only found out after staying in haahaahaa...).   The trace left would be some tobacco and adult toys shop.

Awesome weather with clear blue sky.

3 nights stay was S$402 from booking dot com.
I weirdly forgotten to take photos of the room.  Had took a video but not able to extract any proper photos, my goodness.  It was very small, they house keep like only after 2 or 3 nights, no bottled water was provided, not the best, but this was it.   After checking in, was time to explore.

The transport system was idiot proof, took train ride from Kings Cross to Martin Place, targeting Uniqlo.

Commonwealth Bank on a slope.

Saw a protest, only took a photo from far.

It was really fun exploring a totally new city alone.  I watched the people, observed what they wear, guessing where they were going, where were they from etc...

Strand Arcade

Upon reaching only to realize it's the same area where my friend and I had been.
The Uniqlo didn't have local prints, so I left disappointed.

Chanced upon Westfield food court, I was going to spend less.

I had an enormous bento of fried rice, mapo tofu, shredded pork and braised belly with quail eggs.
Portion good enough for 2 meals, was about S$14 or S$16.

He was playing "I can't help falling in love with you" and my heart was... haiz... held back my tears...

Was in Swarovski, made small take with the retail staff who was from Indonesia, bought a blue angel bracelet for Darren's gf who was leaving for Melbourne soon.

Chanced upon HYPE with friendly and staffs.

Bought my first pair of On Cloud.  Limited edition, was about S$210+, Singapore was selling it a month later at S$260+.
Took an hour or so to get use to the "bouncy-ness", then there was no turning back.  I absolutely love it.  Happy shopping, sad pockets haahaahaa...

Then I walked towards Circular Quay station, catching a train back.

Bought ice-cream.  It's a MUST to eat ice-cream in winter.

I watched the light rail and train passed by one after another.
The ice cream was my dinner liao.

Next day I went Sydney Fish Market, Chinatown and made it to Darling Harbour for fireworks, amazing...
