Ramen Champion at Changi Terminal 3

Date of visit: 10.08.2013

The only good thing about staying at the east area of Singapore will be that it's so near Changi Airport.  Unfortunately, I don't fly as frequently as I wish  to >.<  But Changi Airport is really a great place for food hunts with various restaurants and fast foods.

Didn't know there's Ramen Champion at Terminal 3 and this was my first visit :)
We were very lucky to get a table without queuing.  This pic was taken while we were waiting for our food, waahaahaa......

Tap cards were given to each customer where food ordered will be scanned in.  The cards were to be hand over to the cashier for payment before leaving.

There were 5 ramen brands and a beverage stall.

Gotten Lemon Sour Pum (left) and Passion Fruit Juice (right).
Both were so concentrated and sweet that I had to add plain water to them after drinking a few mouths.

Were given "buzzers" so that we could sit comfortably and collect our order when it's ready from the stall.

2013's Champion - IKKOUSHA
We gave other ramens a try a that day :)

We tried ramens from KEISHOKEN, RIKI and TAKA NO TSUME.

KEISHOKEN

Ajitama Ramen S$12.50 (from KEISHOKEN)
Rich pork broth topped with soya sauce and Japanese Mirin which I finished up the whole bowl of it.

Love the thin noodles and mild sweetness of the broth :P~~

RIKI and TAKA NO TSUME sharing a stall.

RIKI's menu
Image from http://www.ramenchampion.com.sg

Nitamago Ramen S$13.00 (from RIKI)
Looked very different from the menu cos' it's a special order without veg and bean sprouts; for no other than King Luis -__-  It's a huge bowl of thick yellow noodles in pork broth with rich taste of garlic shoyu and generous loads of char siew.

Fried Chicken Wings S$4.00 for 2 pcs  (from RIKI)
This plate was $8.00, each piece came without the drumlet, really expensive.  But worth it!  I dare to say that they were one of the best fried chicken wings I had ever tried.  Sprinkled with sesame seeds on the crispy skin with juiciness all locked in.  The meat just tore away from the bones with an effortless bite :P~~~  This really makes dieting very difficult T_____T  Too delicious, seriously.

TAKA NO TSUME's menu

Ramen Deluxe with Sichuan Style Sauce S$17.00 (from TAKA NO TSUME)
Very different other traditional ramen, the broth was spicy and rich!

Top with thick chicken chop, assorted veg of cabbage, bean sprouts, spring onions and brinjal, it was such a big hearty bowl full of ingredients!  Guarantee to satisfy any hungry hippos with enormous appetite.

Le hubby slurping like a hungry wolf lolxx...

I had used complimentary vouchers for my 3 bowls of ramens, only the drinks and chicken wings were scanned into the tap cards.  As a result, a funny episode happened at the cashier's counter:-

Serving lady at cashier scanning our cards, reading what we had ordered, her brows locked into a frown, eyes widen in disbelieve at the screen, but remained courteous.

Cashier:  There might be an error, may I checked what had you ordered?

Hubby:  2 drinks and chicken wings.

Cashier:  Yes, and?  (waiting anxiously for further dishes to be named with her mouth forming into a small "o".)

Hubby:  (already cannot tahan laughing....) We had 3 ramens but we used vouchers, so there's no record... (in between giggles).

Cashier:  Oh..... (her eyes continued to widen with question marks, her expression was so funny that I got difficulty in keeping myself standing straight and compose.)

Me:  I gotten the vouchers at Bugis + during the media event last month.

Cashier:  I see I see!  (finally gotten the whole picture, she smiled in great relieve, lolxx...)  How are the ramens?  Do you like this outlet?

Me:  It's my first visit here and I like it very much, thank you!

Cashier:  Nice to hear that you enjoyed your meal, you bill is $13.50.  Please come again, thank you!  (grinning very sweetly, such a cute girl really ^^)

The cute cashier's expression was priceless and comical.  We laughed our way home recalling this funny episode over and over again lolxx....  If only it's being video down, waahaahaahaaa......  Didn't take down her name, she was young but was very responsible and friendly.

If you are hungry and need something warm for this rainy weather, Ramen Champion will give you the food comfort that you need!  I have more ramen reviews HERE.

Big Bear Bistro & Bar

OOTD ~
White blouse - G2000
Grey vest - Espirit
Pleated mini skirt - Taobao
I was all "geared up" for Food Appreciation at the BIG BEAR!!

Located at the rear end of Tan Quee Lan Street, but it's easily accessible from Bugis Junction within 3 mins walk.

It's a cozy little cafe away from the crowd.

Contemporary furnishes which sets in a relaxing ambience for diners.

Big Bear boasts a modest but well stocked bar with a good variety of single malt whiskies.

Here's what Big Bear had for us
.
.
.
.
.

Mushroom Soup S$8.90
Mushroom soup created with food sciences in mind where it's rich and creamy initially.   It gets thin and palatable down the bowl.  Mushroom was grained in, but personally, I preferred chunky mushroom bits in the my soup.

Big Bear’s Salad S$10.90
Tossed salad in assorted crispy fresh greens served with poached egg and ham shreds.  Fruity balsamic sauce was refreshing and most important of all, non-fattening!  GREAT!

Calamari Fries S$10.90
Dry batter squid fries served with homemade tartar sauce.  Would be perfect if the calamari were thicker.

Fish Fingers S$9.90
Dory fish fingers were coated in a secret recipe hand whisked beer batter which was exceptionally crunchy and slightly bitter.   Dory fish were soft and juicy with natural sweetness.  The contrasting combination gave each bite a teasing sensation to the mouth, it's.......... DELICIOUS!!!  The orange mustard sauce which came with this dish compliments very well with the fish fingers, awesome!
MUST ORDER!!

Awesome bloggers at work, from the left - Priscilla, Nicholas, Magdalene, Damien and Michelle (whom I didn't managed to catch them into the frame, opps....)
Yeah,....... all these pics that you are enjoying browsing at did not drop from the sky or pop in automatically.
It's a lot of work behind......

Black Maiden S$15.90
Pacific John Dory fish served with black pepper sauce, accompanied with cheesy baked potato and a side of salad.  Although the black pepper sauce was nice and mild, it wasn't my liking as the combination was weird to me.  The fish was also slightly overcooked.

Hawaii Pork S$16.90
Pork Collar marinated with slightly spicy Caribbean fusion served with pineapple sauce.  This huge slab of pork chop was something new to me.  Slightly crisp on the outside, surprising tender inside, the mild spicy-ness was really enjoyable!  THUMBS UP!

Bears love Chips S$13.90
It was the same as the Fish Fingers except that it came with potato strips.  The potato strips were fried to perfect golden brown on the outside and the inside....... was HEAVENLY!!  It's mild sweetness and cotton soft texture was highly addictive, it was impossible to stop eating, totally worth the calories!  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Big Bear's so good with their fried dory fish........ yummy max.

Meltique Strip Loin S$16.90
New Zealand Beef on a bed of mash potatoes, served with red wine wholegrain mustard sauce.

We requested for medium rare, and we gotten what we want :P~~~
I am extremely picky on beef.  While this may not be the best I had tasted, it was very nicely done, tender enough to chew at ease and it's tasty with the unique red wine sauce.   What more can you asked with that price tag!  Super value for money!  GOOD CHOICE!

Norweigian Salmon S$17.90
Generous portion of Norwegian Salmon fillet served with yummy herb-butter gherkin sauce.  Big Bear's really good with sauces, impressive!

Bacon Aglio Olio S$11.90
Spaghetti tossed in olive oil, garlic and pepper topped with bacon slices.  Too pepper-ish and dry for my liking >.<

Creamy Cheese Pasta S$14.90
Pasta was soaked in  smooth creamy cheese sauce (Mozzarella, Parmesan, and Cheddar) with bacon slices.  This pasta was a crowd pleaser ^^

Red Wine Poached Pear S$15.80
Preparation time was long for this dessert, pear was poached in red wine for 3 days!!!  As the result, the pear was soft and infused with aroma of red wine.  Looked like pig's liver I know, but it's a luxurious dessert, heehee.....
ps.  love the rose made from strawberry <3

Banana Sabayon S$13.80
This was special  up sized portion as per request >.<
Sweet dessert plate of vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel and chocolate sauce and banana slices covered with lip smacking egg sauce.
Oh my 天............. all of us went crazy over the RIDICULOUSLY YUMMY egg sauce!  It was to the extend that we shamelessly requested for another plate of up sized Banana Sabayon with MORE egg sauce =P~~~  In fact I think it will be a fantastic dip sauce for puddings, bread, pastry, crackers and many more.
MUST ORDER!!

Good food + Wine & Beer + Reasonable price + Cozy ambience
+ ample parking space = worth repeat visits ^.^

Spicy Thai - Thai Cafe

Date of visit: 08.08.2013

"Food lead" was given by my customer who was quite picky on food despite of her young age.  Her name's Susan too ^.^  We also have the some common "black-list" of restaurants which we wonder why people continued to patronized lolxx.....

Spicy Thai is located in the neighbourhood of Aljunied.

This eatery is size of a coffee shop, non-aircon, with those familiar coffee shop tables and chairs.

Lemon Grass Drink S$1.50
I realised that le hubby had fell in love with Lemon Grass drinks ever since he had the first try at Ah Tong Tea House.  The later taste better, but to be fair, the price was more than double.

Four different types of chilli dip sauces.
My favourite were the sliced chilli padi in fish sauce and the greenish colored chilli with minced garlic and lime.

 MooKaTa Set S$35.00
The set came with prawns, crab meat roll, scallops, marinated chicken, pork balls, vermicelli, kangkong, golden pin mushrooms and an egg.

Made extra order as King Luis was with us.....

Egg Tofu S$2.50

Beef Ribeye S$10.00

It was my first time trying MooKaTa, never knew that it was so different from chinese steamboat/BBQ!

A metal plate with a dome in the middle was placed on top with charcoal beneath.

Lard was placed right in the middle which oozed out oil flowing down from the dome to the soup.
We were told that the oil spreading around the dome would prevent meat from sticking onto the metal.

Very sinful,  but the fragrance from the lard was simply not replaceable by butter or whatever vegetable oil.  So, MooKaTa, can never be halal.

Here's a short clip from my InstaVideo.

The fresh ingredients did make a big difference, everything was so yummy.  The chicken and beef ribeye marinated in some unknown thai seasoning with lots of sesame was so flavourful but not overwhelming.  Meat was tender and insanely delicious!

The dome was charred towards the end, heehee.....  and the soup was superb with all the 精华!

Never know MooKaTa is sooooooooo GOOD!!!
I need visit more MooKaTa restaurants to compare ;)

 Red Ruby S$2.50

Sweet pink bandung with red ruby looked so pretty!
But I felt that the red starch was too thickly coated and the water chestnut cubes inside were too small.
Would be perfect if I got to bite more crunchy water chestnut.

Spicy Thai also serve Jim-Jum (clay hot pot) and other thai dishes.

Before we left with our satisfied rounded tummies, we could not help lurking at other tables.  Gosh, we need to go back again for other dishes!

If you are interested, this was our bill with the address.
Remember to dress lightly as it's non-aircon ;)

Have a nice weekend ahead!

VanityTrove Gatsby + 50% off VanityTrove Cosmopolitan Beauty Authority Box

*sponsored

Was browsing Vanity Trove's web site and saw something perfect for le hubby and my two adolescence.  This exclusive Vanity Trove reached my door step on the 3rd day from my checkout ^^

Vanity Trove Gatsby S$15.00
It's in a royal purple box instead of the usual "drawer box".
 https://www.vanitytrove.com/p/vanitytrove-gatsby

Opened up with 5 Gatsby items.
Gatsby Ice-Type Deodorant Body Paper (3pcs in packet)
Gatsby Facial Wipes (5pcs in packet)
Gatsby Styling Gel Super Hard (30g)
Gatsby Nano Million Scrub (50g)
Gatsby Acne Care Foam (50g)
Gatsby Perfect Scrub (50g)

I am keeping the body and facial wipes for Darren (for his camping) or his daddy (after sweaty outdoor activities).  The hair gel in travel size is great for hubby for our coming overseas vacation.

So here's my reviews for the 3 facial cleansers.
(Female blogger review on male skincare products was made possible with her family of an old man and 2 teenage boys, heehee....)

Gatsby Facial Wash - Acne Care Foam on Darren (15 years old)
Darren has got pimples which he didn't bother with.  I'll have to nag or drag him to the basin to wash his face.  The task was made easier when I told him I got a new cleanser for him >.<  It's foamy with a pleasant citrus fragrance.

Gatsby Facial Wash - Nano Million Scrub on Luis (12 years old)
Luis adopted the bo-chap attitude from his brother, I washed his face and he gave me a funny face lolxx..  Nano Million Scrub has got very fine grains which are gentle on his young skin.  Same fresh citrus fragrance as Acne Foam Care.

Gatsby Facial Wash - Perfect Scrub
Like the other 2 facial wash, it's white in color except that it has got blue colored grains in it.  I tried Perfect Scrub on my hand, the grains are coarser compared to Nano Million Scrub.  Love the refreshing and sparkling citrus fragrance.  I suppose it may not be suitable for my kids' young skin but it's perfect for my old man's thick skin ^_^

I believe it is quite brain wrecking when it comes to getting a present for a male friend.  VanityTrove Gatsby may be a nice little gift which ends your headache.  This exclusive Gatsby Trove for men made my boys happy, it's gonna make any guy who receive this happy too ^^
