NanXiang Steamed Bun Restaurant

Date of visit: 18 May 2013

Bought King Luis for lunch, chose NanXiang cos' they have his favourite xiao long bao (小笼包).
Entrance of NanXiang Steamed Bun Restaurant

We were assured that we were at the right restaurant seeing Bamboo steamers as wall dividers cum decor.
Clean contemporary settings are comfortable enough.

2-sided laminated menu, saved the hassle of flipping through booklets.

NanXiang Steamed Bun Restaurant's menu

Minced Pork Noodle S$8.50
Special order for King Luis without spring onions and veg.
So please note that the lack of color presentation was my son's requirement -__-

Minced Pork Steam buns 鲜肉小笼包 (6 pcs) S$7.00
They have a few types of steam buns which we ordered the most common minced pork fillings.
I wouldn't say it's the best, but standard was good enough (the best I had eaten was in Taiwan).  The skin wasn't not too thick, meat fillings were succulent with pipping hot juices oozing out.
Quit wasting your time queuing at DingTaiFung, you have another choice here.

King Size Soup Bun 蟹黄灌汤包 S$13.60

Purpose of this pic is to show you the size of this steamed soup bun.
Do sip with caution, it's very hot!

When I could no longer sip the soup from the straw, I gave the bun an "autopsy" lolxxx
Within was clear soup with crab roe and strands of crab meat without any other ingredients found inside.
It's a refreshing soup with aroma of crab meat.  But it could be just another ordinary soup if it is presented in a bowl.  The special presentation of straw in a bun did not hold my excitement for too long.
It's still worth a try, but unlikely I will try this dish again due to the price >.<

Peking Duck (half) S$30.00
The Peking duck skin was all nicely wrapped up in omelette skin with cucumber slices and onion strips.
Missed the thrill of DIY :(
But the taste wasn't disappointing.  Yummy and made us happy ^_^

Duck meat was stirred fried in savoury sauce.
We really appreciated this dish cos' very little oil was use and it was done in a nice home-cooked manner.

Pomelo Sago S$4.70
Too sweet for my liking, but my old man and small boy love it and licked up the entire bowl.

Besides the above dishes, other costs incurred were tea X2, towel X3, 10% service charge and 7% GST.
Total bill for the 3 of us was S$80.74.
